Procurement and Contract Management

SSROC plays a vital role in helping our member councils to achieve innovative, strategic and sustainable procurement at best value.

We manage over 200 suppliers, across 47 categories of various goods and services. Our procurement focuses on the overall value for money including economic, social, environmental and financial benefits for participating councils and their communities.

With our member councils we deliver procurement and contract management support to numerous strategic and complex regional projects in waste recovery, renewable energy, street lighting, planning and development, road construction, and maintenance to name a few.

We are committed to the principles of Fair Trade and our contractors must comply and abide by the Modern Slavery Act 2018. The following standards are expected:

  • Creating opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers
  • Ensuring transparency and accountability
  • Promoting fair trade
  • Payment of a fair price
  • Gender equity
  • Legitimate, compliant working conditions
  • No child labour
  • Good business practices for the environment

We operate an open and transparent procurement process, which adheres to the Local Government Act 1993 and the Local Government (General) Tendering Regulations. Australian companies are also bound by the Australian Consumer Law under the Australian Competition and Consumer Act 2010.
